Boikanyo Meets the Queen at the Commonwealth Reception
The Queen holds this Commonwealth reception for the official representatives of all Commonwealth Nations and selected Commonwealth Citizens living in the UK ahead of the Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting (CHOGM)! See here for information about this year’s meeting which is significant because it is the first time the Queen has planned not to attend sending the Prince of Wales in her stead! Naturally it is a great honour to be invited and humble thanks are due to the Botswana High Commission United Kingdom and Commonwealth International Beauty Pageants for making it possible.
The Queen instantly put me at my ease when we met and we chatted like old friends for a while. I also chatted with The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke of Gloucester and Prince Michael of Kent! The reception lasted for an hour and there were no speeches – just networking and chatting which was a wonderful way to get to know the royal family!
